Brunchin’ in Kendall

Where to brunch this weekend @ Kendall Square

Five, maybe even ten years ago, Kendall Square had the reputation of being a neighborhood that disappeared after 5:30 p.m. on a Friday.  When the thousands of workers occupying the neighborhood’s cubicles were safely packed onto the redline and on their way home, Kendall would grow quiet before welcoming back the workforce on Monday.  Enter Kendall Square of 2014 - a place where people certainly still work, but also a place where they’re working out, enjoying happy hours and dinners, and the surest sign of a “real” round-the-clock neighborhood…people are brunching here.

And there is certainly no shortage of brunch options in Kendall.  From the kitschy (Friendly Toast) to the grown-up (Catalyst)  - however you like your eggs, Kendall has you covered. Here, a few of our faves:

Area Four – You’re in for a Hot Mess that’s harvested locally or a Hot Veggie Mess (if meat’s not your thing) at this Kendall Joint. Brunch Menu.

ArtBar – From a Maine Lobster & Gruyere Omelet to Buckwheat Pancakes, ArtBar in the Royal Sonesta hotel, will make you feel like you’re on a Kendall Square staycation.

Catalyst – If the term “Panko Crusted French Toast” doesn’t get you excited, we don’t know what would.  Brunch Menu

Commonwealth – Dollar oysters plus a Dirty Jersey makes for a delectable Domingo.  Brunch Menu.

Friendly Toast – Brunch never ends at this unique but delicious spot. This eclectic diner offers pancakes in coconut, pumpkin and banana and chocolate chips.

If a buffet is more your speed the Blue Room has you covered Sunday’s from 11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
