SUMMARY:National Chronic Disease Day Leadership Luncheon at MassBio
DESCRIPTION:Good Days\, the nation’s leading nonprofit patient assistance charity\, will host the Chronic Disease Day Leadership Luncheon at MassBio headquarters\, bringing together senior biotech executives\, healthcare leaders\, patient advocates\, and policymakers for a focused discussion on innovation\, patient access\, and collaboration in chronic disease care. \nGood Days supports more than 400\,000 patients annually through financial\, travel\, and other forms of assistance that help individuals access life-saving treatments and care. Since 2014\, the organization has also led Chronic Disease Day\, a national awareness and advocacy initiative that addresses the growing impact of chronic diseases in the United States. \nObserved annually on July 10 (7/10)\, Chronic Disease Day highlights a sobering reality: seven out of 10 deaths in the United States are caused by chronic diseases\, including heart disease\, cancer\, and diabetes. These conditions collectively claim more than 1.7 million lives each year and account for more than 90 percent of U.S. healthcare spending. \nAt the same time\, extraordinary advances in medicine are creating new possibilities for patients living with chronic and complex conditions. Yet many individuals continue to face barriers to access the treatments and therapies they need. As healthcare leaders work to reduce the burden of preventable chronic disease\, there is also an urgent need to ensure that innovative therapies are affordable\, accessible\, and able to reach the patients who stand to benefit most. \nThe luncheon will convene leaders from across the healthcare ecosystem to explore how industry\, patient advocacy organizations\, healthcare providers\, and policymakers can work together to improve patient outcomes while expanding access to innovation. Discussion topics will include chronic disease prevention\, affordability\, patient support\, healthcare access\, and the future of treatment delivery. \nThe event is limited to approximately 80 attendees to encourage meaningful dialogue and strategic engagement among participants. \nA full agenda and speaker lineup will be announced soon.

SUMMARY:Central Campus Public Art Tour
DESCRIPTION:Join MIT List Visual Arts Center on a public art walking tour showcasing the MIT Public Art Collection across the central side of campus. \nView select artworks and consider how art and architecture have enhanced MIT’s campus design\, featuring renowned artists such as Louise Nevelson\, Sol LeWitt\, and Olafur Eliasson. \nMany of the public artworks seen on the tour is made possible by the MIT Percent-for-Art Program\, administered by the List Visual Arts Center\, that allocates a portion of the project funds to commission art for each new major renovation or campus construction project. The policy was formally instituted in 1968\, but earlier collaborations between artists and architects can be found on MIT’s campus. \nThis program is free\, but registration is required. \nRegistered attendees will receive an email the day before the tour date if needed to cancel due to weather conditions.

SUMMARY:A Beautiful Resistance Live!
DESCRIPTION:Join Boston Globe culture columnist Jeneé Osterheldt for A Beautiful Resistance Live!—a special evening honoring Black joy\, truth\, and storytelling. \nIn her own words\, Jeneé Osterheldt created A Beautiful Resistance “to carry on the tradition of Black artists and Black journalists in reclaiming the truth of Black folk. Like Frederick Douglass taught us\, there is power in representation. Too often\, we are measured by our suffering. Blackness must not be defined by our brutalization. We are more than death. When we are depicted by our extremes\, the truth of us is lost. We live\, fully. Our joy\, our dreams\, our everyday stories? That’s a beautiful resistance.” \nEvery season consists of a weekly mixtape featuring a short film\, a longform story\, and a Q&A. The community is invited to share their own beautiful resistance on Instagram. There is music\, there is story\, there is love. Joy lives here. Join them.
