Rooted in racial equity, healing, wellbeing, and joy, this year’s celebration will mark the beginning of establishing Juneteenth as America’s original Independence Day. The evening and weekend, organized in collaboration with a host of amazing organizational partners including BAMS, Boston Children’s Chorus, Boston Ujima Project, Boston While Black, Jazz Urbane, Project Step, and Roxbury Cultural District, will serve as the inaugural launch of an annual Juneteenth collaboration, One Night In Boston.
The night will include musical performances, a film premier and is an in-person event that will follow the latest Massachusetts guidelines. This weekend will also serve as a tribute to Black Music Month and part of All-Inclusive Boston.
King Boston
King Boston is a privately funded non-profit working closely with the City of Boston and the Boston Foundation to create a living memorial and programs honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King, and their time and work together in Boston. The memorial is intended to inspire visitors to reflect on the values of racial and economic justice that both espoused. Through the memorial and related programming, King Boston envisions an inclusive and equitable Boston for all.
