Cambridge, MA (September 21, 2022)— The Kendall Square Association (KSA) Board of Directors announced today the appointment of Beth O’Neill Maloney, a seasoned non-profit leader as their new executive director.
“Moving forward it’s essential that Kendall Square continues to be dynamic, agile, and flexible to meet the challenges of today, and tomorrow,” said Beth O’Neill Maloney, Executive Director of the Kendall Square Association. “I am looking forward to bringing people and organizations in Kendall together as a team, and by joining forces we will make a bigger impact than any of us would alone.”
Maloney joins KSA from Positive Coaching Alliance, a national nonprofit organization that provides research-based training and resources for coaches, parents, athletes, and leaders to ensure a positive youth development experience for all children in sports. Previously, Maloney had served at MassDOT and as an attorney in private practice and in the United States Senate.
“We are thrilled that Beth has joined the KSA team,” said Lee McGuire, Chair of the KSA Board of Directors and Chief Communications Officer at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. “Beth brings a strong vision that will help inform the future of work; advance our community’s commitments around diversity, inclusion, and mentorship; and will continue our efforts to creatively pilot solutions for the region’s transportation challenges, all to advance the positive impact of this global innovation hub. I’d also like to thank Kendra Foley and Caleb Hurst-Hiller for supporting the KSA with visionary interim leadership during this transition, as well as the entire team for their ongoing hard work to move this community forward.”
KSA is a longtime leader in regional transportation advocacy, and is in its fifth cohort of Inclusion Drives Innovation, a professional development program aimed at helping industry leaders build antiracist policies and diversify their ranks. A place famous for its “bump-factor”, where personal and professional networks are easily expanded by accessing talent within its dense square mile of businesses, Kendall, too, is navigating return to work and cultural vibrancy in a hybrid environment.
The Board selected Maloney following a six-month search. In her new role, Maloney will lead the organization’s seven-person team, who together support the organization’s mission to “enable the future by connecting the people changing the world.” Over 150 employers are members of the Association, all of whom are invited to the KSA’s next Annual Meeting on October 20.
