If you walked by Termeer Square on Saturday, February 5th, you might have seen a little more activity than usual. You could hear children laughing and talking joyfully in the hot cocoa line, while skaters were gliding by on the rink.

The KSA Community Ice Skating event offered free fun on the ice, thanks to the generous contributions of the City of Cambridge and BioMed Realty. Skaters of all ages and levels took to the ice with some skating confidently and others inching along in pairs, facing each other with hands held and bright smiles as they got their bearings on the ice. To warm up, they wandered over to the BioMed booth for a hot cocoa and headed to 650 East Kendall to enjoy free pizza from Area Four. Families mixed and mingled, with children of all ages talking excitedly and playing together.
Also at the event were representatives from the Gardner School, which opened this month. The Gardner School hosted a table at the event to share its early childhood educational offerings here in Kendall Square.
