How to Get To Kendall Square

To Experience Kendall Square, make your way to Kendall/MIT Open Space and the MIT Welcome Center, at 292 Main St, Cambridge, MA via public transit, car/taxi/ride share, or bike. We’ll welcome you!

PUBLIC TRANSIT

Subway:
We have our own subway stop, Kendall/MIT on the MBTA Red Line, and if you are coming from Boston you’ll enjoy a beautiful ride over the Charles River via the historic Longfellow Bridge.

From the Seaport: Take the MBTA Silver Line to the Red Line at South Station where you will pick up the MBTA Red Line to Kendall/MIT station.

You can also take the MBTA Green Line to the Lechmere Station, with inbound service to D-Riverside and E-Heath Street and outbound service to D-Union Square and E-Medford/Tufts. It’s a 12-minute walk from Lechmere to Kendall/MIT Open Space and Welcome Center where Experience Kendall begins.

Bus:
The 64, 68, and 85 lines stop along Main Street in Kendall Square, and the #1 bus stops on Massachusetts Avenue, about a 15-minute walk away.

If you are near North Station, another option is the EZ Ride, a free shuttle service that runs through Kendall Square. Routes and schedules can be found on their website.

CAR

Parking in Cambridge and Boston can be expensive and hard to find. We suggest public transportation or a taxi/rideshare service. For a list of Cambridge’s accessible parking spaces and available meters, click here. For a list of additional parking garages, click here. For rideshare apps, please set your destination to the MIT Welcome Center at 292 Main St, Cambridge, MA 02142

BIKING

Blue Bikes:
This is our bike share program, which includes traditional and e-bike options. You will find a dozen or more Blue Bike stations in the Seaport (or almost anywhere in the Boston/Cambridge area) and in the heart of Kendall Square. A system map, including details to help you plan your trip from start to finish, can be found here.

Personal Bikes:
There are several bike racks found throughout Kendall Square, with some taking the form of caffeine molecules and others depicting sine waves. Keep your eyes open for these quirky places to store your bike along Main Street. The use of bike locks is recommended.
