“This is the building where they make my medicine.”

This quote came from one of the young artists who participated in this year’s Community Window Painting. Coming face-to-face with one of the many Kendall Square buildings that produces life-saving and game-changing innovations, this painter gained a personal connection to the treatment they received.

Roughly 70 families and Cantabrigians gathered to paint Kendall’s windows on a sunny Sunday, October 6th. Perhaps you have noticed the pizzas and planets, hearts and heroes, or even the award-winning octopus that now decorate the first-floor windows of Kendall Square.

This year, the KSA encouraged students to feel inspired by three themes:

  • Hero/Superhero: Who is your superhero? What kinds of heroes do you admire?
  • Innovation/Invention: What does the future look like? What technology will exist in the years to come?
  • Sustainability/The Planet: Can you paint our world? How can we sustainably protect our planet?

Once again, this year’s participants rose to the challenge and brought their wonderfully creative ideas to life. Using some brushes, some paint, and a lot of imagination, the artists depicted the three themes. Here are some of their works:

Thank you to the building owners who graciously let us paint on their windows: BioMed Realty, BXP, CBRE, the Koch Institute, the Marriott, and MITIMCo, and special thanks to the City of Cambridge for sponsoring the event.
