500 Kendall is a 13-story building that utilizes innovative, environmentally intelligent design and received the AIA 2004 Excellence in Sustainable Design Award and the AIA COTE 2004 Top Ten Green Projects Award. The building received LEED® Platinum certification. Among the many sustainability features, the vegetated roof and skylight rainwater collection system reduces storm water runoff by 25 percent. The roof-mounted heliostats direct sunlight down through the central atrium, along with the automated window blinds that optimize natural light while avoiding glare.
