Kevin Powell: An Evening of Conversation and Poetry

This Spring acclaimed writer, activist, and pop culture insider Kevin Powell comes to the Museum of Science, Boston for a one-night only special event celebrating his newest releases, Grocery Shopping With My Mother, a collection of poetry, and The Kevin Powell Reader: Essential Writings and Conversations, a gathering of 30-plus years of his literary output.

Poet. Journalist. Human and Civil Rights Activist and former two-time candidate for U.S. Congress. Tupac Shakur biographer and Hip-Hop historian. Cast member on the first season of MTV’s “The Real World” and author of 16 acclaimed books. Kevin Powell has become one of the most prolific American writers, thinkers, activists, and public speakers of the past three decades. His writings are important contributions to our national conversations on race, gender, class, politics, pop culture, celebrity, hip-hop, and the past, present, and future of the United States. His work has been acclaimed by the likes of Maya Angelou, V (formerly Eve Ensler), bell hooks, Gloria Steinem and more.
