Artist Talk: Raymond Boisjoly

Raymond Boisjoly has an interest in how to productively counter misclassifications of objects that are distanced from their source, and how one can consider the circulation of Indigenous media and objects. Boisjoly works with text, photography, and images to contemplate modes of transmission and consider how language, culture, and ideas can be mediated, framed, or received. A Vancouver-based artist of Haida and Quebecois descent, Boisjoly expands on the Vancouver School’s post-conceptual photographic practices while attending to complex negotiations of Indigeneity in the context of colonialism. Attend this talk to learn more about his practice, and work featured in The Explanatory Void on view in the List Center Galleries. The talk will conclude with a facilitated Q & A session with exhibition curator Natalie Bell.
