LEAP Lab: Animals’ Amazing Senses

Registration recommended! You’ll be the first to learn of event details or if the location or date changes due to inclement weather.

How can dogs save endangered killer whales? And how do fish protect your drinking water?

Some animals do incredible jobs that help humans—everything from preventing wildfires to predicting earthquakes. Learn how animals use their super senses to tackle real-world human problems and try an activity to test out your own sensory systems, with science journalists Christina Couch and Cara Giaimo, authors of Detector Dogs, Dynamite Dolphins, and More Animals with Super Sensory Powers.

This event is presented in collaboration with MIT Kids Press, an imprint of Candlewick Press, the MIT Press Bookstore, and MIT’s Office of Government and Community Relations.

Free copies of Detector Dogs will be distributed at the event, while supplies last. Please choose “Free Ticket + Book” to reserve your copy, limited to one per household.

All ages are welcome. All minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Responsible adults, please keep a close eye on your kids.
