On Monday, December 9th, scores of Kendall’s cyclists came together to make our streets safer for all.

As a neighborhood that proudly hosts 6 of the 10 most popular BlueBikes stations, Kendall Square is a hub for cyclists across the region. With this reputation comes the ever-important need to keep everyone on our roads safe. This includes cyclists, who are often the most vulnerable and exposed on our roads.

To do our part, KSA collaborated with BXP and Cambridge Bicycle Safety to provide free bike lights, reflective tape, and vibrant wearable gear.

At the event, cyclists swapped stories, sharing the joys of bike commuting and the all-too-common tales of near collisions and low visibility on the roads.  They also rejoiced at the recent progress made to make cycling safer in Kendall, Cambridge, and beyond.

Black Magic Coffee was on site to help give everyone an extra caffeine boost during their morning commute. Special thanks are also owed to Sweet Mazie’s Cookies, who provided delicious cookies for attendees to take with them. The eventually empty basket that remained following the event proves that the cookies were indeed a hit with the crowd.

As the volunteers at Cambridge Bike Safety pointed out, the design of the bike on the cookie is accurate.

Special thanks are due to BXP, who hosted and sponsored the coffee and snacks, and Cambridge Bicycle Safety, who shared technical advice and helped spread the word.

Because of efforts like this, we can all look forward to safer travels and brighter days ahead.
